Worksite Safety Series

COURSE DESCRIPTION

SERIES OVERVIEW
Whether you are an entry-level cable installer or a senior technician, safety is a critical part of every telecommunications project. The Worksite Safety series contains essential information and tools for creating a safe work place for all employees. Understanding how to interpret safety data sheets, knowing fall hazards, the basics of sprain and strain injury, and basic first aid techniques when working are necessary to ensure safety at workplace.

The Worksite Safety series includes:

Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
This course is designed to provide both workers and supervisors with a better understanding of how to interpret a safety data sheet (SDS), as well as address specific requirements associated with SDSs in the workplace.

Fall Protection
This course is intended to provide employees who might be exposed to fall hazards with the ability to recognize such hazards and the ability to minimize them.

Sprains and Strains
The course is designed to help you better understand the basics of sprains and strains so you will be more aware of what you are doing and how you are doing it, in an effort to prevent this type of injury from happening to you.

First Aid: Basic
The course focuses on how to use a systematic approach to evaluate an emergency situation and respond to basic first aid situations prior to the arrival of emergency medical services (EMS).

  • Identify the types of information found in sections 1-8, 9-11,12-15 and 16 of an SDS
  • Recognize common workplace fall hazards and tripping hazards
  • Recognize ways to protect workers from workplace fall hazards
  • Identify what a sprain and strain injury is
  • Recognize key concepts associated with the physical and work factors that contribute to sprain and strain injuries
  • Recognize how exercise programs can reduce injuries
  • Identify basic first aid techniques used to treat severe bleeding
  • Identify basic first aid techniques used to treat burns
  • Identify appropriate ways to treat burns that may be the result of radiation
