Industry-Recognized Validation

Not all professional associations are created equally. A professional association’s recognition by accrediting, licensing and industry-approving organizations shine a spotlight on the association’s competence and expertise.  BICSI prides itself on its continuous improvement in the ICT field. As a professional association focused on its members and others in the industry, BICSI always seeks to expand and improve its offerings through third-party validation of its programs.

American Institute of Architects (AIA) members must complete a minimum number of hours of continuing education annually.  Also, many licensing and registration jurisdictions require some level of continuing education.  Architects need continuing education to maintain competency and to future proof their careers beyond any licensing and registration requirements.  AIA’s continuing education requirements differentiate their member architects from those architects who are simply licensed.

To support the demand for quality continuing education across a wide domain of topics and delivery modalities, the AIA established the Continuing Education Services (CES) program in 1995. The AIA CES program leverages a network of providers to design, develop, deliver, and administer high-quality, relevant learning programs to satisfy AIA requirements for continuing education related to the field of architecture and architectural practice as well as the mandatory continuing education requirements for state license registration and renewal.  BICSI has been recognized by the AIA as one of these AIA CES Approved Providers.

BICSI Design and Project Management courses satisfy AIA credential holders' general learning unit hours requirements, as well as the coveted Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) learning unit hour requirements. For example, AIA members will have a deeper understanding of why the inclusion of an RCDD on-staff is critical to accurately assess a building owner’s telecommunications needs and to design and implement a plan that allows for imminent growth, with minimal costs for later upgrades.

Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA)

The Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA) Board of Governors established an independent AVIXA Certification Committee to provide oversight for development and administration of credible Certified Technology Specialist certifications (CTS, CTS-D, and CTS-I), and to ensure the credentials meet high standards of ethical and professional practice for the audiovisual industry that assures the proficiency and competency of AV professionals.

Continuing education is an important component in demonstrating a personal and public commitment to maintaining competency within a professional certification program. The AVIXA Certification Committee renewal program for the CTS certification program reflects that commitment and as such, meets the ISO/IEC/17024 accreditation requirements as administered in the United States by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

All levels of CTS certifications are awarded for a period of three (3) years. Individuals wishing to maintain their CTS, CTS-D and/or CTS-I designations must meet the renewal requirements of the AVIXA Certification Committee in order to maintain their certification(s).

As an AVIXA Renewal Unit (RU) Provider, BICSI demonstrates its commitment to providing quality education and training for audiovisual professionals, including Certified Technology Specialist™ (CTS®) holders and the specialized designations CTS®-D (Design) and CTS®-I (Installation).

BICSI’s Design, Project Management and Installation courses were approved by AVIXA’s independent Certification Renewal Committee and provide learning opportunities for CTS holders and others for their continued professional development. For more details on the list of approved courses and their respective RU credits, click: www.bicsi.org/avixa
