BICSI Day Perú

On 22 August, BICSI CALA held its fourth BICSI Day Perú event in Lima, Perú. This successful event surpassed all expectations and secured its place as the best Perú BICSI event ever. Held at a new location, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar, there were 377 in attendance and a sold-out exhibit floor with 16 exhibiting companies. Many CALA leaders, such as Peru Country Secretary Rosalia L. Zarate,  Peru Country Chair Christian Reyes and CALA District Chair Betty Bezos, RCDD, DCDC, ESS, NTS, OSP, participated in different roles.

Throughout the event, presentations focused on the theme of the day, which was “Connecting the World to the Future of Technology.” This included topics such as the past, present and future of cabling solutions; intelligent and efficient buildings and infrastructure; the Internet of Things; the next generation of PoE; and the impact of digital buildings and data in our lives. Guest speaker Francisco Madrid Cisneros of The National Institute of Quality (Instituto Nacional de Calidad – INACAL), discussed the impact of standards in the Peruvian Government and a lively panel discussion titled, “What Lies in the Future for Data Centers,” moderated by Christian Reyes engaged the audience as well. Following the panel came the closing remarks, where BICSI and Co-Organizer INICTEL-UNI generously presented a $500 scholarship on behalf of BICSI to Erwin Daniel Lopez Zapata.

Overall, the fourth BICSI Day Perú saw a 197% increase in delegates compared to last year. Both delegates and exhibitors were thrilled with the event and are looking forward to more events in the CALA District. Volunteers and staff are already looking at dates for the next Peru event, which is tentatively on schedule for 20 August 2020. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event a reality!

Update on Tech Breakfast Romania

Not even two months after BICSI was present at the Datacenter Forum in Bucharest, BICSI organized an event entitled, “Digital Infrastructure and Performance Managing Multi-Suite and Campus Environments” that took place on 3 July.
Over 30 attendees heard from industry experts on the latest technologies and standards regarding managing complex infrastructures, upgrading MMF infrastructures, smart buildings, IoT, PoE and CPR. One of the most remarkable moments was the Q&A after the CPR topic which brought very interesting technical discussions with the active intervention of many attendees.

We are excited that BICSI is gaining interest within the Romanian ICT professional community. We want to extend our appreciation to the speakers, sponsors, volunteers and all those who helped us organize this event. Lastly, we thank all the attendees for taking the time to participate.

Exciting News for Lapsed UK & Ireland Credential Holders: BICSI Amnesty Program Will be Launching Soon

Following a two-year initiative, instigated by the UK & Ireland District, full details will be released soon of a scheme that will give lapsed BICSI credential holders an easier option to regain their qualification. Eligibility will be subject to a maximum lapsed period of no more than two CEC terms and demonstration of engagement in the appropriate industry for the lapsed period. Candidates will be required to attend the BICSI training course associated with the credential but will not have to retake the exam. Take a look at the latest article by BICSI here in Inside_Networks on pages 32-35 for additional details.
