Event Recap: Additional Information About the Successful Conclusion of BICSI Korea Tech Day2018-Korea-Tech-Day

The 2018 Tech Day held on 20 November was a great success! Presentations were focused on the theme of "New Technology of ICT Infrastructure." The event was also featured in a local newspaper

With autonomous cars, smart cities, and next-generation data center industries lively, ICT professionals gathered to share ICT infrastructure technology trends and search for industrial development directions. Reliable wired networks are essential for seamless data communication at high speeds. BICSI, an international ICT organization, held a 'BICSI Korea Tech Day' event at JW Marriott in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, on the 20 November.
Global network solution companies such as Fluke Networks, Leviton and CommScope have introduced various network technology trends. The ICT professionals who attended had time to exchange information by checking the products at the company booth or consulting with company representatives.

During the event, the presenter talked about a wired network standard that connects devices in an autonomous car—100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1. This includes details of physical elements such as cable size, thickness, and volume. This is to assure the communication reliability of autonomous cars, which could seriously damage people and property at the very moment. Wired network infrastructure technology for hyperscale data centers has also been introduced. The technology development is aimed at achieving 800Gbps and 1.6Tbps as well as 400Gbps data processing. In particular, it was suggested that cable quality and construction quality must be secured in order to process large amounts of data by bundling multiple cables.

The issue of PoE ++, which supplies up to 100W of power over the network, has also been announced. With this technology, high-performance network devices and notebooks can be powered through network cables without additional power. PoE ++ technology uses four pairs of twisted pair in Ethernet cable, so it is important to secure cable and construction quality for stable power transmission. As a result of these various technological developments, requirements for cable and construction quality are increasing.

Again, a special thank you to Rui Takei, RCDD, DCDC, for his help at the BICSI booth and to the other volunteers that made this day a great success.
