The Self-Nomination Form to Serve on the BICSI Board of Directors is Now Available

A prime opportunity to volunteer and give back is now available to you, and that is to serve on the BICSI Board of Directors. If elected, you would play a central role in keeping BICSI relevant and advancing our mission in the connected world.

If you feel you are qualified to serve, submit your self-nomination to volunteer as a member of the BICSI Board of Directors. The positions up for election on the Board:

U.S. South-Central Regional Director
U.S. Southeast Regional Director
U.S. Western Regional Director

Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday, 15 June 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).

Board of Directors Nominations Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does it mean to serve on the BICSI Board of Directors?

    All Board members serve a two-year term. During this time period you will further BICSI's mission, stated as:

    • Advancing the information and communication technology (ICT) profession.
     
  • Do I need to be a BICSI member to self-nominate for a BICSI Board of Directors position?

    Yes, only active BICSI members are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

    For the office of President-Elect, the nominee must be a member of BICSI for at least thirty-six (36) consecutive months prior to the acceptance of the nomination by the Nominating Committee.

    For the first election held for Region Director when a District becomes a newly constituted Region, the nominee must be a member of BICSI for at least twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the acceptance of the nomination by the Nominating Committee.

    For all other positions on the Board of Directors, the nominee must be a member of BICSI for twenty-four (24) consecutive months prior to the acceptance of the nomination by the Nominating Committee. 

  • Does serving on the Board mean I have to travel to all BICSI conferences and events?

    Board members are expected to attend the two (2) BICSI U.S. annual conferences and attend Board meetings scheduled during the conferences. Board members are also expected to participate in Board conference calls.

    Board Member Expenses 
    Board members shall follow the BICSI Volunteer Travel Guidelines when required to travel on behalf of BICSI.

    • Conference, Training, and/or Board-related Meeting Attendance Expenses
      • Lodging: BICSI will pay for the minimum necessary number of hotel nights needed for each Board member (based on Board member’s duties) to attend the annual Winter conference and the annual Fall conference. Should a Board of Directors meeting be convened at the Canadian conference, BICSI will pay for the minimum necessary hotel nights needed to attend the Board meeting. BICSI staff will make the hotel reservations for all Board members.
      • Conference Registration: Each Board member will receive a complimentary conference registration to attend the annual Winter and annual Fall conferences, and should a Board meeting be convened at the Canadian conference, each Board member will receive a complimentary Canadian conference registration.
      • Airfare: BICSI will provide airfare for each Board member to attend one (1) U.S. Conference (usually the Winter conference unless other arrangements are made) each fiscal year. Airfare will be booked according to the BICSI Volunteer Travel Guidelines.
      • Meetings: If a Board Strategic Planning meeting, a Finance and Audit Committee meeting, or an Executive Committee meeting occurs separately from a scheduled Board meeting, BICSI will pay for the minimum necessary number of hotel nights needed for each required Board member to attend the meeting, in addition to paying for their airfare, transportation and meals according to the BICSI Volunteer Travel Guidelines.
      • Expenses Not Covered: Board members shall review the BICSI Volunteer Travel Guidelines for expenses not covered by BICSI.
      • Training Courses: Board members are permitted to audit any training class free of charge but will not receive any CECs for the class nor will BICSI cover any travel related expenses associated with attending BICSI training courses.
  • When does the nomination process begin and end?

    The nomination process begins on 15 April 2022. All active BICSI Members will receive email instructions on how to self-nominate for open Board of Directors positions.

    The self-nomination process will close on Wednesday, 1 June 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).

  • Are there any restrictions for serving on the Board?

    Yes. There are restrictions that apply to serving on the BICSI Board of Directors. Please refer to the BICSI Nominations and Elections Info document. All nominees are required to read and agree to this information.
