The 2012 BICSI Cabling Skills Challenge will include the following seven events:
- Event A: SCS Installation
- Event B: Copper Cable Terminations & Firestopping
- Event C: Fiber Termination
- Event D: Cable Assembly
- Event E: Cable Troubleshooting/Technical Support
- Event F: Competency Exam
- Event G: Professionalism/Orientation
The 2012 BICSI Cabling Skills Challenge will take place on February 12-15 at the 2012 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla. All BICSI-credentialed Installers and Technicians are invited to submit an application. Competitors will be selected based on qualifying criteria such as professionalism, quality of resume and work experience. An attempt will be made to equally represent all regions.
In order to participate, the BICSI ITS Installer 1; ITS Installer 2; ITS Installer 2, Copper; ITS Installer 2, Optical Fiber; or ITS Technician must secure approval and sponsorship from their employer. The employer will be responsible for all travel costs, including transportation to and from the competition, meals and accommodations. All competitors will receive a full complimentary conference registration, sponsored by BICSI. Past judges and Installation Committee members are not eligible to participate. Companies are encouraged to submit multiple applications. No more than one application will be selected per level, per company.
Each applicant must have a current BICSI ITS Installer 1; ITS Installer 2; ITS Installer 2, Copper; ITS Installer 2, Optical Fiber; or ITS Technician certification at the time of application and, if selected as a competitor, at the time of the competition.
