What is the GBTA?
The Green Building Technology Alliance (GBTA) is in the process of working with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to help develop Innovation Technology credits for our industry. We have had several meetings talking about our strategy and process on developing and submitting these Innovation Technology credits to the USGBC and we are very close to submitting our first round of submissions soon.
What is the intent of the GBTA?
The intent of the GBTA is to be a Think Tank to start work on developing new Innovation Technology credits, but not the only source to do so. GBTA is merely an alliance where discussions take place to brainstorm on possible new Innovation Technology credits, and we provide a stepping stone to get there. Each organization that belongs to the GBTA relies on its members to help assist us in the development process. We encourage all of you to develop or create ideas for Innovation Technology credits.

I have some Innovation Technology suggestions and ideas. Is there a place where I can discuss these ideas?
We have developed a link on the BICSI Forums Community called the “Green Building Technology Forum†and the link is http://forums.bicsi.org/Forum403-1.aspx. The main purpose of this link is to be a placeholder for the members (and non-members) to bounce ideas off about possible Innovation Technology credits and to answer any questions they may have about the process of submitting these credits.

What is the proper process for writing/developing the Innovation Technology credits?
You need to write/develop these credits around an existing LEED project. We will be querying our memberships to find LEED projects where you may be able apply your new potential Innovation Technology credit.
