In 2008, BICSI created an alliance called the Green Building Technology Alliance (GBTA), which has members from BICSI, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) and Infocomm International. The goal and purpose of this alliance is to develop Innovation Technology credits for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credit rating system. We have been asked by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to be the placeholder of technology credits for the ITS arena; therefore, it is up to us, along with our members, to help develop these very special credits.
The intention of this Web portal is to provide a source of information and progress reports on what has happened within the GBTA and what is transpiring with these possible new Innovation Technology credits. Eventually, we will build a suite of Innovation Technology credits that can be used around the globe by any of our members or alliance members when working on LEED-rated projects.
Please keep an eye on this Web portal for progress updates and potential ID tags for Innovation Technology credits that have been approved by the USGBC. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions or possible Innovation Technology credits you would like to submit, please click on the link below to download the proper LEED Innovation submission form and send it to the GBTA at gbta@bicsi.org.
