Golf Professional at Siena Golf Club. He has won a couple of Las Vegas PGA Chapter events in the last several years and finished second in the last
year's chaper championship.
Take a shot at "Beating the Pro" at a designated hole during the golf tournament. Gerry will tee off and each player will then hit his/her ball in an attempt to get closest to the hole. Anyone who can beat him will receive a a prize at the awards ceremony luncheon.
What is a modified scramble?
The BICSI Cares Fall Golf Tournament will be played as a modified scramble. This means that only three players can hit from the spot of the best ball after the foursome tees off on each hole. The player whose shot is selected as best ball does NOT hit the next shot. This procedure continues until the team holes out. This rule is intended to keep the low handicapper from carrying the team. For example:
All member of the foursome tee off.
-Team member A’s tee shot is selected as best ball
-Only players B, C, and D can hit from this spot.
OR
-Team member C’s shot is selected as best ball
-Only players A, B, and D hit from this spot.
This procedure continues until the ball is on the green where all players putt.
Additional Rules:
- All fairway shots must be played within two club lengths of the selected ball, but no closer to the hole.
- All teams must use every team member’s drive at least once on the front nine and once on the back nine
- You can roll the ball over (approximately 3”), but no closer to the hole.
- Should a rough, bunker, and hazard shots be selected, then all shots should be dropped at the location of the selected ball.
- Should all players hit out of bounds (white stakes) there is a 1 shot penalty, you can take the distance of the best ball and drop where it went out of bounds.
- The worst anyone can take on a hole is a double par.
- Allow teammates a chance to hole-out. No tap-in putts. No gimmies.
- No practice putting before or after hole is played out.
- Count all strokes.
- The captain of each team is responsible for keeping the team score and signing the card before turning it in promptly upon returning.
The most important rule is to HAVE FUN!
