    • Sustainability of Future Critical Power Infrastructure
      • Joe Oreskovic, Eaton Power Quality Company, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

3 CECs – RCDD, RITP, DCDC, NTS, OSP, ITS Installer/Technician

Cloud computing and virtualization is driving increased focus on data center infrastructures. These technologies and platforms have introduced many new challenges, leaving executives and data center operators concerned over the state of the power infrastructure. Subsequently, the power delivery architecture requirements need to be flexible enough to support the dynamic data center growth of not only traditional large data centers, but also within the rack enclosure itself. This seminar will address high-density, modular, scalable power protection architectures by focusing on the entire power chain, from the building entrance to the equipment itself. The information will include traditional designs to distributed rack deployments; an evaluation of the current data center; power distribution schemes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs of heat; deployment of strategies and sizing for future requirements; and a discussion of future trends to improve both power utilization and availability of the critical systems.
    • The Changing Video Environment - Understanding Video Technology and Infrastructure from Analog to Digital
      • Joseph Cornwall, Cables To Go, Moraine, Ohio, USA

      3 CECsRCDD, RITP, ITS Installer/Technician

In this seminar the attendee will learn about all aspects of video technology, starting with analog basics and progressing to the complex world of digital video. We will explore the characteristics of digital A/V environment and discuss applications such as digital signage, presentation systems, collaborative and educational spaces, hospitality and health care facilities. Covering both analog and Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS), the digital technology underlying Displayport, HDMI and DVI-D signals, this is an exploration of video critical to future success.

    • Canadian Codes and Standards Update
      • Kevin Cheong, RCDD, LEED AP, P.Eng., Applied Engineering Solutions Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
      • David Carter, LEED AP, B.Eng., Applied Engineering Solutions Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

3 CECs RCDD, RITP, ITS Installer/Technician

There have been a number of significant changes to various construction codes and standards that affect the information transportation industry in Canada. The Canadian Electrical Code® will be published in 2012, and the National Building Code of Canada 2010 will only be adopted by some jurisdictions in 2012. A number of related CSA, ULC, NFPA and other referenced standards have also been changed. We will provide a summary of major changes, explain the relationship between codes and standards and explain the relationship between national documents and local requirements.
    • Fiber to the Desk - Network Design and Application
      • Michael Zegarski, Motorola Mobility Inc., Horsham, Pennsylvania, USA

3 CECs – RCDD, RITP, NTS, OSP, ITS Installer/Technician

Motorola's Passive Optical LAN (POL) solution is a highly reliable and economically disruptive enterprise LAN solution providing all-fiber access to any Ethernet end point, such as end user devices, access points and wireless controllers, application servers and printers. Motorola's POL solution is a standards based Passive Optical Networking (PON) technology and provides enterprises with the ability to rapidly address their evolving LAN requirements, while dramatically simplifying the enterprise LAN and greatly reducing total costs.
