The 2008 BICSI Winter
Conference will be held January 14-17, 2008, at the Gaylord Palms Resort
& Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. We invite you to become a
presenter at the conference and share your experiences and knowledge.
The 2008 BICSI Winter Conference
BICSI invites members
and nonmembers to contribute to the future of the information transport
systems (ITS) industry by submitting proposals for presentations at the
2008 Winter Conference. BICSI’s Education Advisory Committee (EAC)
is seeking proposals for Pre-Conference Seminars and General Sessions
focused on innovative approaches that attendees can use immediately in
their daily activities within the ITS industry.
This is your opportunity
to help shape the conference program and provide valuable insight for
conference participants. The Winter Conference brings together individuals
in ITS, exhibiting companies and industry media. Please use this form
to indicate your interest in presenting at the Winter Conference in a
Pre-Conference Seminar or General Session format. The deadline for submitting
this form and your original proposal is Friday, August 17, 2007. If your
presentation is selected in our initial review, you will be contacted
to provide additional information and a copy of your presentation.
The Audience
The program created for the conference will provide information and training
to support professional and organizational development priorities of groups
and individuals working in all areas of the ITS industry. The audience for
the conference will be comprised of:

- Regulatory Commissioners and Commission Employees

The Program
Content for Pre-Conference Seminars on Saturday and Sunday, and General
Sessions during the conference should be relevant, best practices that
cover existing and emerging topics in the design, installation and maintenance
of ITS that support voice, data, Internet, security, control and other
building management systems.
How Do You Benefit?
If your presentation is selected:

- Your conference registration fee is waived.
Presentation
Guidelines
Individual speakers or a panel may give a presentation at the conference.
BICSI’s Education Advisory Committee will select the speakers and
determine the conference time slot for each selected presentation. Please
consider the method of your presentation when applying – lecture,
panel presentation, case study, group discussion or other method.
Presentation Formats
Presentations
may be in one of the following formats:
- 60-minute session
- Half-day Pre-Conference Seminar
- Full-day Pre-Conference Seminar
Note: Please indicate if the presentation can be adapted to different
session time frames.
Acceptable Presentation
Media
- Slides
- Video
- Computer projection
Please note: Overhead transparencies are not permitted. Presentations
must be strictly generic. Avoid commercialism and use of trade names. Presentations
of a marketing nature or those containing specific product demonstrations
are not acceptable. Selection
Criteria
Considerations
made when reviewing submissions include:
- Information is timely, relevant and educational.
- Presentation applies to a global audience.
- Material is vendor-neutral, best practices.
Required Submission
Materials:
- A completed application form.
- Abstract (minimum fifty [50] words).
- A detailed outline of the presentation (including goals and target
audience).
- Resumes/bios/CV of all speakers/panelists.
- Learning Objectives (optional); list 3 learning objectives for presentation
attendees, specifically what they will gain from attending your presentation.

materials (listed above). Please indicate if you have presented this
presentation before and at what venue. |

Submit a bio
on presenter(s). |
| 4. |
If you plan
a panel format, a complete list of all speakers must be noted, along
with resumes for each panelist. Please limit panels to three speakers.
The panel moderator/chair should be identified as well. |
| 5. |
If you would
like to submit a proposal for more than one session, a separate application
is required for each session. |
| 6. |
Deadline for
submissions is Friday, August 17, 2007. Applicants will be notified
of proposal selection by Friday, September 28, 2007. |

Accepted proposals
will require submission of a copy of the presentation for use on the
2008 Winter Conference CD-ROM of Conference Presentations that will
be placed in the conference bags. |

Requirements for
Accepted Presentations
If your presentation is accepted, please follow these guidelines:
- The PowerPoint presentation to be used at the conference must be delivered
to BICSI by Friday, December 7, 2007. The PowerPoint presentation will
be included on the conference CD-ROM and placed on the BICSI Web site.
- A personal biography and photograph must be delivered to BICSI no
later than Friday, December 7, 2007 for inclusion on the conference
CD-ROM.
- Grant unrestricted permission to the Conference Committee to record,
duplicate and distribute copies of the presentation.
- The conference registration fee is waived if your presentation is
accepted.
